The Minister of Environmental Affairs has, in terms of sections 66(1), 67(1), 70(1)(a), 71(3) and 71A of the NEM:BA, published the Alien and Invasive Species lists, 2016.
 
Notice 1 to the list sets out the listed invasive species in respect of categories 1a, 1b, 2 and 3 in terms of which certain restricted activities are prohibited in terms of section 71A(1) of the NEM:BA; exempted in terms of section 71(3) of the NEM:BA; and require a permit in terms of section 71(1) of the NEM:BA.
 
Notice 2 to the list sets out the alien species exempted in terms of section 66(1) of the NEM:BA.
 
Notice 3 to the list sets out the national list of invasive species in terms of section 70(1) of the NEM:BA.
 
Notice 4 to the list sets out prohibited alien species in terms of section 67(1) of the NEM:BA.

These notices take effect 60 days from date of publication (i.e. on 27 September 2016) and replace and repeal any Alien and Invasive Species lists published under the NEM:BA including GNR 599 of 1 August 2014 and GNR 507, 508 and 509 of 19 July 2013.
